PROVISION OF RESEARCH TO UNDERSTAND THE EXPERIENCES AND IMPACTS OF 20TH CENTURY SETTLEMENT SCHEMES AFFECTING GYPSY/TRAVELLER COMMUNITIES IN SCOTLAND

The Scottish Government (SG), on behalf of Scottish Ministers, intends to commission research to improve understanding of historic settlement schemes affecting the Gypsy/Traveller communities in Scotland throughout the 20th Century, colloquially known as the “Tinker Experiment”. The contractor will be required to carry out qualitative research to understand the impacts of the settlement schemes on present-day Gypsy/Traveller communities in Scotland and to facilitate the sharing of lived experiences
