Provision of the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score Test for use within Cancer Services.

The Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score Test provides a genomic-based risk assessment for early-stage invasive breast cancer in the adjuvant setting. The test provides information of distance recurrence, the benefit from chemotherapy and whether a patient can be treated effectively with hormonal therapy alone. NICE have recommended Oncotype in the node negative setting. Local audits have suggested that use of Oncotype reduces chemotherapy use by about one third in the target population.
