Stornoway Airport Coastal Protection Works
The project is being undertaken to protect the coastline to the north and east of the 18-36 runway, the primary runway at the airport. In recent decades the beach and dunes to the north and east of the airport have been subject to erosion. The extent of erosion is now such that if corrective action is not taken, it will soon impact on the existing infrastructure and potential operation of the airport.
