The Battle of Britain Bunker: (Phase 2) Water Mitigation Works

The Battle of Britain Bunker was constructed in 1938 as the underground operations room replacing a ground level facility. In 1940 it was the nerve centre for directing the fighter protection over London and the Southeast. The Bunker was built on two levels, and remains largely unchanged, it contains its original air filtration system provided by two independent plant rooms, mains and standby power supplies, together with telephone exchanges and offices.
