Appropriate Adult Service for Adults 18 years old and over

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requires that an 'Appropriate Adult' is present to support adults 18 years and over when they are: • interviewed by the Police - either as a voluntary attender, or under arrest; and/or • formally read their rights; and/or • formally charged; and/or • finger printed by the Police; and/or • searched by the Police (at a custody centre).
