A bird survey of 65 new farm woodlands established under the Farm Woodland Scheme (FWS) and the Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) was carried out in 1999. These sites will now have matured to become patches of good scrub and young woodland habitat, and the 1999 survey provides an excellent baseline from which to investigate whether bird populations have changed through colonization of these new habitats.
